From there it took us 2 days to get to Austin, Texas where we found the coldest temps of our trip....20 degrees and WINDY. We had dinner with Deb and Ken and their kids and saw their beautiful home.
We took a day trip in San Antonio and did the beautiful River Walk and saw The Alamo.

Heading south we stayed for a few days in Big Bend National Park. This area borders Mexico with the Rio Grande separating it. We had a wonderful time here and so many interesting and beautiful things.

Several homes had this adobe look. |
We traveled through southwest Texas for many, many hours where there was absolutely NOTHING to see except the oil fields with various oil pumping structures. We passed through a couple of towns we've heard of before like Pecos and El Paso. Because we were traveling right along the border with Mexico, we passed an occasional border patrol checkpoint. Once in a while we could look across a river and see neighborhoods in Mexico. Very cool.
More neighborhoods in Mexico....right across the river |
We now arrived in New Mexico at Carlsbad Caverns National Park and Guadalupe National Park and saw more wondrous things.

We had to pay a visit to the famous Roswell and check out the UFO crash site and museum.
We are now headed to Arizona. Since the temps were still pretty chilly, we headed right down to the south of Arizona and stayed in lovely Tucson for 2 whole weeks!! We went to the world famous Tucson Rock and Mineral Show for days on end and were mesmerized by all the stunning treasures from Mother Earth. I bought some beautiful treasures here too!

Right down the street from our campground was the entrance to Saguaro National Park where we made frequent visits.
We now headed west toward Phoenix and stayed in Mesa, at the largest RV park we had ever stayed in. (1100 sites). Katy flew in and joined us for a few days and we had lots of fun.

We took a day trip to Petrified Forest National Park. We really enjoyed the amazing fossils left over from millions of years ago.
You can see quartz in the petrified wood. |
The Painted Desert is connected to the Petrified Forest.
The kids were attempting to read all the National Park signs - so cool! And the rainbow pics were a BIG hit.
