Thoughts From The R.V.

We've now been living in our RV (actually it's a travel trailer, but I refer to it as an RV) for about 3 weeks and aren't quite at our projected half way point yet.  We have had lots of time to talk, think, and reflect on how this lifestyle is for us and our experiences so far.  Folks we've met all have different uses for their RV from weekends away, or a week or 2 at a time.  Or, they are like us and plan long epic journeys.  We have met so many friendly people at the RV campgrounds and all share the common thread of enjoying big/little adventures and taking off to go exploring.  The roads and campgrounds are full, full, full of RVers coming and going.  So, so many people are really into it.  The mid west is loaded with RV dealerships and parks....probably because of the abundance of lakes in the areas.  Nearly every driveway has an RV around here.   Funny.
Early on in our trip I felt myself going into a ZONE.  Really, really "chilled out".  It took Mario a while longer as he was still running in his usual 5th gear zone.  It feels as though we are in a separate reality from the rest of the world.  We know that things are going on around us, but we feel like we are in the middle of it all.....in the eye area where there is just a wonderful stillness and we are unaffected by everything.  Day in and day out we just live to "take it all in" and are truly LIVING IN THE MOMENT.  WOW!!  I've NEVER been able to do that.....all my scattered energy flying all over the place.  Our only worry for the days and weeks is when would be a good day to do laundry and should we go to a Walmart to pick up some stuff.  I honestly think this is the big turn on for the retired couples that we meet.  Zillions of them.....doing just exactly what we are doing......and have been doing it for YEARS already.  At night..we both sleep like rocks.  haha.   wow.
Traveling with an RV/travel trailer is really great in so many ways.  Wherever you go....you bring your little apartment along with you with all of your stuff.  Your bed,  full bathroom, full kitchen, with heat, AC, cable tv..  Even when traveling you always have a bathroom that you can pull over to use or go inside to grab a snack whenever you want.  Yes....you ARE hauling a large item and there are the annoying hook up and unhook up things you need to do whenever you change locations.
The RV parks we've stayed in have been quite lovely.  They are clean and quiet and for about $30 a night you get WIFI, cable, laundry facilities, hookups for water, electric, and sewer.  Our RV is an ultra light and is pretty small in relation to others at the parks.  But it's the perfect size for us and all of the ways we can see ourselves using it.  It has everything we could ever want or need.  Still.....we are hauling weight and we use gas very quickly.
We usually make our meals and bring along food and drink in a cooler when we unhook from the RV and take off for the day sightseeing.  So, eating isn't expensive at all.  We even have a microwave to reheat leftovers.
Traveling with an RV is part of the experience.......the RV is one of the characters in the story.  If we are in a really cool area we can stay as long as we want....and for $30 a night.....it doesn't matter.       Tomorrow we will arrive at our next big destination......Glacier National Park!!    TTFN
